What’s the best camera for concert pictures?
letsstartariot asked:
I love going to concerts, and love coming back with good pictures. I’m looking to buy a new camera and want one that’s good for concerts and also is really, really big (I’d like if I could still enjoy the concert instead of having to make sure the camera doesn’t like go into someones back, or something.)
I meant to say ISN’T really, really big.

Minolta 7s II
or
Leica M3 with the 50mm Summicron
or
Nikon D700 with a F/2.8 70-200mm
While the above mentioned cameras are all really nice, how about something more affordable. You are going to need to buy and learn to use a DSLR. For canon your best bet is an EOS 40D or 50D and an 85 f/1.8 or a 70-200 f/2.8 if you can afford it. Nikon maybe a D90 or D200 and the equivalent lenses. Now this is relatively affordable, concerts require low light photography which comes at a high price. If you have more money to spend, the canon 5D or 5D mark II or the Nikon D300 or D700, but those are far more camera than you will probably need until you learn what your doing.
You will never get really good pictures from any camera that is allowed into concerts. They are just too small. And the big cameras that would do the job aren’t allowed unless you have a press pass.
Why not just buy a program and sit and enjoy the concert.
