What would you recommend for a casual bass player?

I don’t play any gigs, not in a band, but I’ve been wanting an amp for a while for practice, but I’ve also hand in my mind to buy some recording equipment stuff to mess around with, creations, ideas, etc.? I already know which one i would buy of each, but I dunno what I should get first. I’ve got the money for one right now, the other one for later, a while later…

Amplifier…you can’t record without one
Buy the amp that way you can hear what you sound like and fine tune your sound before you try to record it.
