The Beatles Mono CD Box Set: The 1960s Mono Mixes On CD For The First Time Ever

In the late ’60s stereo mixes became the standard and mono was left behind for good. But up until that time mono was the standard and bands like The Beatles spent almost all of their time on the mono mixes. The stereo mixes were little more than an afterthought in comparison.

For the first time ever these original mono mixes are going to be officially available on CD when they are released on September 9th, 2009. It’s exciting for Beatles fans to be able to finally hear these original mono mixes because many of those who have heard the mono mixes (on vinyl) have said that they are superior to the stereo mixes.

The Beatles Mono Box Set is coming out on 9/9/9 and it will include the band’s first 10 studio albums in their original mono mix on CD for the first time ever. Along with those 10 studio albums, the box set will also include the original stereo mixes of Help! and Rubber Soul along with a non-album song compilation called Mono Masters.

The Beatles final three studio albums (Abbey Road, Let It Be, & Yellow Submarine) are not included because they were never mixed in mono. By 1969 mono had been completely phased out.

The original stereo mixes for Help! and Rubber Soul were decided to be not suitable when the Beatles CDs were first released in the 1980s so new mixes were created of these two albums. That means the original stereo mixes (as released in the 1960s on LP) have never made their way onto CD. Until now. That’s why they are included in this mono box set even though they are not mono mixes. It’s to complete the “historical record.”

Prior to the release of this new Beatles Mono Box Set it would have been very difficult to hear these original stereo mixes of Help! and Rubber Soul because they could only be heard on the original vinyl LPs released in 1965. These are hard to get your hands on these days. And plus, most people don’t have a record player anyway!

Mono Masters is a collection of all of The Beatles non-album tracks and as it’s name implies, all of the mixes on this album are mono mixes.

Many of The Beatles most well known songs are included in the Mono Masters compilation because often left their biggest singles off of their albums. Among the songs you’ll hear: “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” “She Loves You,” “Ticket to Ride,” “Lady Madonna,” “Hey Jude,” & the fast single version of “Revolution.”

The mono mixes of The Beatles albums are not being sold separately but only as a part of The Beatles Mono Box Set.
