Kenny Chesney – The Man Behind the Music

Kenny Chesney is one of the most popular country artists today. Even those who do not listen to country have heard of this musician. As a matter of fact, he is the current ACM Entertainer of the Year; one of many amazing achievements. Kenny Chesney has a charm about him that lures audiences from all over. Once they have seen him in person, and watched him perform, they are hooked for life!

His career began back in 1993. Since then he has released 13 albums, 11 of which have been certified Gold or higher. Over 30 of his songs have made it to Country’s top 10 list, and continue to stay there. Not only is this guy full of charm, but his songs reflect reality that anyone can relate to.

Kenny Chesney, born in 1968 in Knoxville, Tennessee, received his first guitar when he was only 5 years old. Surprisingly, this was not the start of his passion for music. He absolutely refused to play the guitar because it hurt his fingers. Even if he liked music – at this point in his life – he sure did not want to play it. Even in high school he was played football rather than participating in musical events.

After high school graduation, Chesney went to East Tennessee State University where he was involved in a Bluegrass Program. This is where his love for music began to fester. He saved every penny he made in order to buy himself his second guitar – first one that he uses. Upon college graduation, Kenny Chesney went to Nashville to follow his dreams.

Nashville is where he – very quickly – began to make a name for himself. In 1992 he was signed by BMI and Opryland Music Group. His first two songs were “In my Wildest Dreams” and “All I Need to Know”. These were his first two big hits and were what lead to the rest of his life. Every song that Kenny Chesney sings is about events that he has personally experienced, along with the emotion involved; this is why every song is realistic to fans and why fans can relate directly to this artist.

Like many other stars, Kenny Chesney is adventuring into new arenas. Some stars are starting their own clothing lines or patenting their own scents. Chesney, on the other hand, is creating his own Rum. He is so adamant about the fans loving it that he even surveyed them to find out what they wanted to see in the Rum. Neither he nor his fans can wait until this release!

Speaking of fans, Kenny Chesney’s Boston show sold out in under 10 minutes. With the economy the way it is, and consumers not purchasing entertainment as they used to, this is nearly unheard of. Fans are determined to see Kenny Chesney regardless of the tough financial times they face; his personality and touching music have captivated their hearts.

Chesney has won awards for best video, best male country artist, single of the year, along with many, many others. One of this first was in 1997, the ACM New Male Vocalist of the Year. Then he won his most recent – 2008 Entertainer of the Year. Guess is the awards will not stop here.
