How To Teach A Child To Learn Piano

A baby is introduced to the power of music right from birth. Some people play calming music during the actual birthing process. One of the first things that a mother or father does is sing lullabies to their child.

You will find that music will calm a baby down. Children love to hear music from the moment they are born, and you may be wondering when you should start teaching them to learn piano and create music on their own. This really depends on the child and your patience level.

You need to teach the child to learn piano with very short lessons that are very stimulating for him. Once a child has become bored you have lost him for that lesson. You can get online courses that show you what you should be teaching your child first and how to do it.

If you have the patience, you can start working with the child as soon as they are old enough to understand basic commands. You can make a game of stretching exercises for the fingers so that when they are ready to learn mentally their fingers are ready as well.

There are little things you can do with a toddler to help them to learn piano. You can teach them respect for the piano right from the beginning. You can set the child down at the piano and show them how to push the keys gently, and you can even show them a couple of simple chords. A small toddler will love to play a chord because he will be able to hear how more than one note can sound and he will feel like he has accomplished something great.

A child is ready to learn earlier than you think. Around the five year mark is the usual time that you can slowly start real note learning. The lessons will need to be extremely short, and if you see your child smiling and laughing at a certain point during the lesson it is a good time to stop. It is a really smart idea to have your child walk away from the piano with a smile on their face so that they are eager to get back to it and learn more.

If you feel your child is not ready at the age of five then it is best to wait. You can still keep them interested in the piano by sitting them down and doing little games with them.

There are courses on the Internet that show you piano games you can play with children. Taking one on one time with your child to get him to experience the feeling of the piano is a great bonding time. Make it fun to learn piano and your child will learn.
