How to Sing and be Heard

Do you believe that singing is a gift from above and that you either have it or you dont? I hope you said no to that question because although some are born with natural talent, anyone can learn how to sing well with the right training.

I know what you are thinking. How on earth can you afford to hire a professional coach to teach you how to sing? The cost of hiring a vocal coach can reach thousands of dollars over the course of the training. How can you afford that?

Vocal coaches are by nature, very protective of their profession. They hate it when their ‘art form’ is glossed over and want to keep the somewhat archaic methods of learning to sing high on the agenda.

I know many students who almost turned away from singing after being taught how to sing at the hands of one of these types of teachers. Thankfully they didnt give up all together and simply needed to find the right way to learn how to sing. The fun way.

So many people, either because they cannot afford a singing coach or because they have had a frustrating experience with one often resort to teaching themselves how to sing. They buy a book or a cd and practice along and they find some improvement. But is this the best way?

Sure, you get what you pay for with learning materials. A DVD on how to sing may set you back about thirty dollars and you might enjoy the experience for a while but is it going to nurture you and bring out the unique beautiful voice thats inside you? No, it won’t be able to do that.

Most people just want to improve their natural voice. It would be pointless if we all sounded the same don’t you agree? If you look at some of the most charasmatic singers down the years (especially in the modern pop era) you will find that most of them have their own unique style which immediately identifies them. And thats what you should be looking for from yourself too.

But dont be discouraged. There are ways of learning how to sing that actively encourage your uniqueness and seeks to encourage you to blossom into the vocalist that is waiting within. Dont sound like everyone else. Be yourself, find the right training materials and let your own voice soar.

A professional singing coach will cost you potentially thousands of dollars and the chances are you dont have that kind of money laying around. Besides, you would end up paying for a tutor who will likely teach you (and therefore you pay a lot for) things you dont really need to know.

What if you just wanted to improve your ‘natural’ voice? Everyones voice is unique and everyone wants to use their voice for different purposes. They dont want to sound the same. They want to sound unique, but better.

But all is not lost. You can learn how to bring out the best in you without forcing your unique square voice into a round hole. There is a great singer in you waiting to get out and with the right tuition you can learn how to sing like a pro.
