Malice: This is a complex intrigue thriller. When Dr. Jed Hill performs an emergency surgery on Tracy Safan, who is having abdominal pains, he removes more than he should during the surgery. Accusations and threats of lawsuits fly, but there is even more going on here than it seems.
Lili Marleen: Second rate bender in reference to third-rate cabaret singer Schygulla, whose carbon copying of the title melody gets to be a hit in Nazi Germany. Captivating subject matter is pretentiously addressed. Cast includes Hanna Schygulla, Giancarlo Giannini, Mel Ferrer, Karl Heinz von Hassel, Christine Kaufmann, Hark Bohrn, Karin Baal, and Udo Kier. Tin Cup: Roy McAvoy was a talented golfer that never made it on tour because he never knew when to play it safe. Now a driving range pro, he decides to try to qualify for the US Open to impress a new female client. He qualifies for the Open, and incredibly has a chance to win it. On the last hole his old problem surfaces, he can’t play it safe, and takes a ridiculous risk that costs him the championship.
Li’l Abner: Vigorous Gene DePaul-Johnny Mercer lyrical based on Broadway rendition of AI Capp’s cartoon; loud and brassy, with cheesy comedy, some excellent melodies. Stubby Kaye is fine as Marryin’ Sam; other Dog-patch characters vividly enacted. Look acute for youthful Valerie Harper and Beth Howland amid the chorus gals. Cast includes Peter Palmer, Leslie Parrish, Stubby Kaye, Howard St. John, Julie Newmar, Stella Stevens, Billie Hayes, and Robert Strauss. (113 minutes, 1959)
Eragon: Eragon is poor young boy trying to help keep his family fed. When he finds a shiny blue stone he thinks it might bring food to the tables. The stone turns out to be an egg, a dragon egg. Eragon and this dragon were destined to be together. Now they will go on great adventures together.
Doug’s First Movie: The megastar of Television’s excited Doug is characterized in this bland, formulaic tale, stringently for babies. Gentle-behaved preteen Doug attempts to spare a local jeopardized “beast” clash with his want to take his lady friend to the school dance. This movie was built as a direct-to-video production. Voices of Thomas McHugh, Fred Newman, Chris Phillips, Constance Shulman, Doug Preis, and Alice Playten. (97 minutes, 1999)
The Believers: Clutching, sincerely petrifying plot of widower and child who move to N.Y.C. and become engaged (in more ways than one) with cultish religion of Santeria, which believes in the sacrifice of youngsters. Well crafted film knows how to exploit its spectators however shows no identity either. Cast includes Martin Sheen, Helen Shaver, Harley Cross, Robert Loggia, Elizabeth Wilson, Lee Richardson, Harris Yulin, Richard Masur, Carla Pinza, and Jimmy Smits. (114 minutes, 1987)
Infinity: Sugary however choppy film based on the life of Richard Feynman, whose relation with Arline Arquette in pre-WW2. N.Y.C. takes a fateful turn while he is enlisted to work on the Manhattan Venture. The hypothetical physicist triumphed- the Nobel Treasure in 1965. Powerful while handling the love tale, although strolls while Feynman moves to Los Alamos. Broderick’s directorial debut; inscribed bi’ his mom, Pang. Cast includes Matthew Broderick, Patricia Arquette, Peter Riegert, Dori Brenner, and James LeGros. (117 minutes, 1996)
