The flick is action-bundled, with gloriously cheesy discussion dubbed, bizarre costumes and sets, satisfactory visual effects. Cast includes Wang Hsieh, Yuan Guy, Terry Liu, Tsen Shuyi, Huang Chien-lung, and Lu Sheng. (92 minutes, 1976)
Stage Fright: Theater student Wyman turns covert sleuth while an actress’ spouse is killed. There are some stimulating scenes however the Mr. Hitchcock misses on this one. Cast includes Marlene Dietrich, Jane Wyman, Richard Todd, Kay Walsh, Aastair Sim, Joyce Grenfell, Sybil Thorndike, and Patricia Hitchcock. (110 minutes, 1950)
The Rock: General Francis Hummel is angry with the U.S. government for not honoring men he has because they died during covert operations. HE is so angered by this rebuke that he takes a group of tourists visiting the now closed prison of Alcatraz, and holds them hostage. He plans to unleash poisonous gases upon the city of San Francisco if his demands are not met. The unlikely team of a biological weapons expert, and a former prisoner of Alcatraz, must sneak onto the island and attempt to thwart the plot.
Blaze: Newman gives a showy, uninhibited behavior as Earl Long, the elaborate governor of Louisiana in the 1950s who dropped headlong in love with stripper Flame Starr Davidovich, in her first steel role. Seemingly definite tale, peppered with vibrant characters and episodes, falls alarmingly flat eventually and on no account recoups. Genuine-life Flame Starr appears fleetingly as Lily, the stripper whose shoulder Newman smooches backstageCast includes Paul Newman, Lolita Davidovich, Jerry Hardin, Gailard Sartain, Jeffrey DeMunn, Garland Bunting, Richard Jenkins, and Robert Wuhl. The Proud Ones: Well-bred Morgan and down-and-out physician Philipe cross roads in Vera Cruz, Mexico, in this sponging up story of love, religion, and the outcomes of a catastrophic plague on the impoverished population. Striking and atmospheric; based on Jean-Paul Sartre novel L ‘Arrwur Redempteur set in China! Cast includes Michele Morgan, Gerard Philipe, Winner Manuel Mendoza, and Michele Cordoue. (94 minutes, 1953)
Absolute Beginners: This film is a British musical. The musical themes are jazzed based with Sade included in the performance. The film is set in London in the late 50′s, with young men and women coming of age as the setting. Eddie O’Connell, Patsy Kensit, David Bowie, and James Fox star. (1986 musical)
Buck Privates Go home: One of the most entertaining romps has boys returning to civilian life and trying to smuggle a youthful European orphan into this nation. Climactic pursue a highlight.
