How to Compose a Successful Song
As a new songwriter, you can discover some quick methods and ideas that you can use to enhance your ability as a songwriter. You can write many types of songs, and if you want to direct your emotions and feelings through your music this can happen. Songwriters compose because they have a special melody and the words that need to be expressed.
You may want to write songs as an outlet for your own feelings, thoughts, and emotions. While many successful songwriters focus on their own experiences, others have no interest in commercial success and write solely for their own fulfillment. But many songwriters do aim to sell their work for commercial success and fame.
Songs that are written with popular music in mind must meet certain criteria in order to be considered. Even though songs written for commercial success must follow stricter criteria than those written only for personal fulfillment, there is much leeway given the wide variety of voices, genres, and styles in popular music. Perhaps you have unique singing voice that is suited to a particular style of music.
You can compose your own distinctive type of music that you like and that you think people will enjoy. Most good composers write music that is exclusively theirs and not a reflection of the latest fad or most popular song getting airtime. An original and imaginative way is to write music that is truly intuitive and expressive because many people can identify with music that is uniquely special.
Every good songwriter should compose music for their own select group of listeners. It doesn’t matter if you are writing for one person or many persons, just let them know that the music is for their ears only. It’s important that you should find your own special way of communicating your music so that you touch the hearts of your listeners.
Music that is written with emotional truth will make a true connection with most audiences, who want to identify with a good song. If you don’t like romantic songs with gushy lyrics, write about something from your life experiences that speaks with your unique voice. You can compose and write music about your past experiences with family, friends, mishaps, unfortunate incidents and so on.
Musical ideas can come from almost anything. Be ready to record these moments of inspiration, lest you forget them later when it comes time to put pen to paper. You may get some musical ideas while listening to a part of some rhythm music you listening to, the sound of animals in a forest, or sitting in a restaurant.
Locate a fine singer whose work you know and like so you can hear your song performed. By doing this you can hear you song through a singer who adds his or her style to it which may give you a pleasant surprise. After listening to it, you can make some additional changes or leave it as it stands.
