I Know Pronounce You Chuck And Larry: Larry and Chuck top notch fire fighters, and best friends. When Larry fails to change the beneficiaries on his life insurance policy after the unfortunate death of his wife, the only way he can make sure his children benefit if he dies is to remarry. There is no woman he can trust with his kids, so he comes up with the idea of marrying his best friend Chuck.
Pulp Fiction: This is Quentin Tarantino’s masterpiece work. The story weaves around four separate, yet intertwined event. There was an accidental killing, the crime bosses wife’s overdose, the boxer who didn’t throw the fight, and pair of small time crooks trying to rob a restaurant.
The Red Shoes: Finished with integrity and a pulsing stone soundtrack. Cast includes Anton Walbrook, and Marius Gorin. (133 minutes, 1948)
Singin in The Rain : This may be the best film lyrical of all time, styled by Betty Comden and Adolph Green from a catalogue of Arthur Freed-Nacio Herb Brown melodies. The setting is Hollywood throughout the shift to talkies, with Hagen giving the performance of a lifetime. Cast includes Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, Donald O’Connor, Jean Hagen, Cyd Charisse, Madge Blake, and Rita Moreno. (102 minutes, 1952)
Supreme Justice: Two Supreme Court Justices are dead. When college student Darby Shaw writes a brief paper, speculating as to who would have interest in seeing these two judges killed, it is read by people in high places, and Darby is now in danger. She doesn’t know who to trust, until Washington Post writer Gray Graham convinces her he will help her if he can. Together they unravel the mystery and create a clever solution to Darby’s predicament.
Blood Diamond: In the 1990′s Sierra Leone was a very dangerous place. The Rebels were battling with the army, and there were mass killings. Many people were taken and forced to work in the diamond fields. This is the story of one such man, who was removed from his family, and saw his son become a rebel killer. With the acquisition of one huge diamond, he buys his freedom, and brings his family back together, and out of Africa.
Fool for Love: Sheppard’s assessment of 2 ex-lovers who find that they are inextricably stuck together. The tough part is is creating some interest in these characters. Cast includes Sam Shepard, Kim Basinger, Harty Dean Stanton, and Randy Quaid. (106 minutes, 1985)
No Drums, No Bugles: Pleasantly finished tirade, based on West Virginia fable in reference to conscientious objector throughout Civil Battle who invests 3 years in a cavern instead of quarrel. This is an excellent performance by Sheen, who’s the only one on monitor for most of film. Cast includes Martin Sheen. (85 minutes, 1971)
