With the acquisition of one huge diamond, he buys his freedom, and brings his family back together, and out of Africa.

Fool for Love: Sheppard’s assessment of 2 ex-lovers who find that they are inextricably stuck together. The tough part is is creating some interest in these characters. Cast includes Sam Shepard, Kim Basinger, Harty Dean Stanton, and Randy Quaid. (106 minutes, 1985)

No Drums, No Bugles: Pleasantly finished tirade, based on West Virginia fable in reference to conscientious objector throughout Civil Battle who invests 3 years in a cavern instead of quarrel. This is an excellent performance by Sheen, who’s the only one on monitor for most of film. Cast includes Martin Sheen. (85 minutes, 1971)
