When a motion picture is based on actual events we learn from the tribulations of another person, and most of the time fictional films have an effect on us the same way.
Fantomas against Scotland Yard – Ironic cliffhanger-type venture story, with Marais as wonderful felon involved in sports orientated adventures. Cast includes Jean Marais, Louis De Funes, Mylene Demongeot, and Henri Serre. (104 minutes,’66)
Nutcracker the Motion Picture – Much of this interpretation of The Nutcracker, acted by the Pacific Norhtwest Ballet, is like a music video with rapid cutting and close-ups of legs, faces, and elbows. Mrs. Brown, You’ve got a Lovely Daughter – A laughable reprieve for a film, with Herman and his Hermits heading for London to enter their greyhound in a race. In between the anticipation they harmonize “There’s a Sort of Quiet All around the Planet” Cast includes Herman’s Hermits, Stanley Holloway, Mona Washbourne, Sara Caldwell, and Javelin Percival. (100 minutes,’84)
Hail Caesar – Horrible music-megastar wannabe (Chamber) is in love with an offensive debutante, whose father is plotting to undermine an upcoming concert. Not a very good film. Cast includes Anthony Michael Chamber, Robert Downey, Jr., Frank Gorshin, Samuel L. Jackson, Judd Nelson, and Nicholas Pryor. (97 minutes,’93)
The Gorilla – Disheartening comedy thriller with the Ritz Brothers as fumbling investigators looting around old rest home looking for a murderer. Cast includes The Ritz Brothers, Anita Louise, Patsy Kelly, Lionel Atwill, Bela Lugosi, and Joseph Calleia. (66 minutes,’39)
