Celtic Women have experienced an enormous growth in popularity. 2008 has been a whirlwind adventure for them, finding them touring all over the world. Get your tickets well in advance in order to enjoy the musical performances this group has to offer. Tickets for US performances went on sale on December 15th, with performances available all across the United States beginning on February 13th. Tour dates are available in the US all the way through July. If you want tickets, you’d better get them quickly. You may find them at a location nearest to you.

Somehow, in addition to an almost impossibly rigorous live performance schedule, this group has also been able to record and release two CDs during this period of time. They include “Celtic Woman: The Greatest Journey Essential Collection” and a Celtic Family Christmas CD, which also features the High Kings.

The sound that this group brings has a unique quality that can’t be found in many other places, and therefore offers worldwide appeal. Celtic Women is directed by arranger and composer David Downes, who is a graduate of Trinity College in Dublin. He studied music and composition in the country where the Celtic sound originates. He brings experience with famous performing appearances, and has worked with many famous soloists.

So, how did this journey begin? In 2004, Celtic Woman was a near instant success. With their self titled debut, the Christmas CD “A Christmas Celebration” and “A New Journey”, Celtic Woman has held the highest honor on the Billboard World Music Charts: number one for a record breaker of 95 weeks. And those are consecutive weeks – which means no one knocked them out of place for nearly two years! The CD’s have gone platinum in both the United States and South Africa, and if that isn’t enough, they have gone Gold in both Australia and Japan. This only serves to demonstrate the incredible multi-cultural appeal this group has.

Celtic Woman embodies two thousand years of tradition, since the Celts arrived in Ireland. The songs became poetry that celebrated life and dripped with sorrows. They embody who we have become as a people.

This group consists of five talents that make the group a success. Four singers, and one fiddle player were originally brought together for the first recording. Whether singing alone or together, these singers bring the music from the Irish shores to life. Working under the direction of David Downes, these singers offer a musical gift to the world.

Singers include 15 year old Chloe Agnew, Lisa Kelly, Orlagh Fallon (who also plays the Irish harp), and the violinist Mairead Nesbitt. The performances put on by these singers don’t stop with mere singing, they also include dancing, and other interpretive work that only enhances the music that is already beyond reproach.

Once you’ve purchased your ticket to this show, be prepared to experience a dazzling performance. The stage will come alive with everything this group does, from the decorations on the stage, to the light effects, and the breath-taking performances themselves from the performers. Make sure to experience this show – you will be amazed.
