Block Party: The Newest Missy Elliot CD

Hip and unique well-known female rapper and songwriter, Missy Elliott, is releasing a new studio album, Block Party, in the United States later this year. There is not a specific release date, but it is projected to hit shelves in August or September. The album has been postponed many times since it was originally scheduled to be released in December 2007. Missy Elliott states she is adding the finishing touches and improvements. Block Party is Missy Elliotts seventh studio album and the first one to be released since 2005, which is the longest gap between studio albums released by Missy. The CD will include production by Timbaland, T-Pain, The Arkitects, Swizz Beatz, Pharell Williams, Danja, as well as a few others.

After the release of Ching-a-Ling, Missy Elliotts official website announced in January 2008, that the song would be featured on Elliotts new CD. A track named Best Best leaked on the Internet in June 2008 and was speculated to be Block Partys first lead track. The video for Best Best is currently under production. Other songs that will be featured on the CD are Act a Fool, Fire, All for You, Put It On You, Shake Your Pom Pom, Hip-Hop Dont Die, Milk & Cookies, Like When You Play the Music, and Love. Shake Your Pom Pom was released in March 2008. Put It On You is a track featuring Teyana Taylor and is expected to be release June 2009 before the CD is released.

According to Billboard, Missy Elliott stated she chose Block Party as the title of the CD because there are many dance tracks on it and it is a CD that you can play and listen to in the streets.

Missy also said that she views this album is more musical and melodious than albums she released in the past. She said most of her previous albums were driven by hip-hop with influences of other genres of music. She views this one as different because it combines her same hip-hop styles with sounds of United Kingdom hip-hop styles.

As expected, Missy Elliott and Timabaland continue to work and collaborate together. Elliott views this relationship as something deeper than producing albums. She has stated that there is a lot of chemistry between the two of them that will never change.

Fans are anxiously awaiting the release of Block Party. Many are signed up for the waiting list through many stores and websites.
