Block Party – Missy Elliott’s Soon To Be Released CD
Hip-hop queen Missy Elliott is due to release her seventh studio album, Block Party, later this year, possibly in August or September. The new CD was originally supposed to be released in December 2007, but has been delayed several times. It is the longest time frame between studio albums for the hip-hop goddess, four years since her last album, The Cookbook, which was released in July 2005.
Missy said, during an interview with Billboard, that she chose Block Party as the name since the album is fulled with many dance tracks and it is a CD that can be listened to in the streets. She also states that she feels this album is more harmonious then the previous ones as she has combined her usual style of hip-hop with the UK hip-hop melodies.
The new album features production from well-known artists such as Missy’s longtime friend and collaborator, Timbaland. Missy said that her and Timbaland share a relationship full of chemistry that is much more than just music. She also said that the two would always work together some way or another. Other producers include T-Pain, Pharrell, Point Guard, Danja, The Arkitects, Soul Diggaz, Danny!, The Neptunes, and others.
Block Party has new sounds and upbeat tracks. The song Ching a Ling, that was released in January 2008, on the Step Up 2:The Streets soundtrack will be featured on this album. Another song from the Step Up 2 soundtrack, Shake Your Pom Pom, will also appear on Missy’s new CD and, Best Best, released on June 13, 2008, is the albums first single. Some of the other titles include Hip-Hop Don’t Die, Milk & Cookies, Like When You Play the Music, Act a Fool, Fire, Love, All For You, and Put It On You.
Put It On You is due to be released before the album, on June 6, 2009.
