Any Awsome Day Gigs?

www.american-guitarist.com asked:

Since most musicians have some kind of day-job to fill in the gaps between gigs, the issue becomes how to find a day-job that pays well (as well as possible please!) but allows us the flexability to be out late gigging, take great gigs when they come up, and have some brain cells left at the end of the day for music. Maybe as everyone reads the answers, one person might see someone else’ answer and think: “Hey, that’s a GREAT idea for a day gig, and it would work perfectly for me!”

Hopefully some of these answers will be mutually beneficial to all of us. I’m fortunate enough to make my living playing full time, but when I had a day job, I was always on the lookout for one that paid better, offered more flexability and didn’t fry my brain so much. Sometimes I think that the only way to find out about a great day-job is to ask another musician!

So, the question is: What is your Day Job? And if you don’t have one, can you suggest one that is creative and perfect for a musician?

fast food is the only thing that i’ve come across thats flexible enough to be able to play gigs all the time. However my bass player/frontman was working as a personal assistant for a guy with muscular distrophy for a long time, and it worked out great for him because marcus (the guy he worked for, before his illness worsened) is a great guy and really big into music, so he would always be at our shows anyway, and it was nothing for another one of the workers there to go out to the bar with marcus while we were playing (most of the time our bass players co-workers were already their at the shows anyways) so he would have someone qualified with him during the few hours we were up on stage, then our bass player would take back over when the show was done, and marcus would come party with the band afterwards…..it was actually a pretty fun job for him considering marcus loved to come out to shows and party anyways.
