A Well-liked American Writer’s Stories That Were Turned Into Films
John Grisham has been one of America’s most favorite novelists since 1989. His books have sold over 250 million copies worldwide. The greater part of his books, in fact 17 in all, are legal fiction on the other hand he has authored 4 non-legal fiction works and one non-fiction book. As of this time there have been ten movies made from his books with one in the works.
The 2nd book from John Grisham became the first motion picture back in 1993. “The Firm” stars Tom Cruise, Jeanne Tripplehorn and Gene Hackman. It follows the storyline of a young Harvard Law School graduate as he starts working for a Memphis law firm with ties to the underground. “The Pelican Brief”, the 2nd show from a Grisham work also came out in 1993. It starred Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington.
“The Client” came out in 1994. This film follows an 11 year old boy who by accident witnesses a suicide and finds himself being chased by the mafia for what they believe he may have learned from the dying man. Starring Susan Sarandon, Tommy Lee Jones and the late Brad Renfro.
The very 1st published and the one that many regard to be Grisham’s most excellent book to date is “A Time to Kill”. This storyline was made into a motion picture in 1996. The motion picture introduced a new and forthcoming actor in the lead role, Matthew McConaughey, also starring Sandra Bullock, Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Spacey. Another show from 1996 was “The Chamber” starring Chris O’Donnell, Gene Hackman and Faye Dunaway.
In 1997, “The Rainmaker” starring Matt Damon as a rookie lawyer who takes on the lawsuit of a boy denied medical treatment by a powerful insurance company. In 1998, the only motion picture from Grisham that was based upon an unpublished manuscript was released, “The Gingerbread Man” starring Kenneth Branagh and Robert Downey, Jr.
Of the four non-legal fiction books by Grisham, two have been turned into movies, “A Painted House” in 2003 and the holiday favorite, “Christmas with the Kranks” starring Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis and adapted from the book “Skipping Christmas”.
“The Runaway Jury” came out in 2003. This show starred Gene Hackman, Dustin Hoffman, John Cusack and Rachel Weisz. Grisham’s 21st book, “The Associate”, just released as a book in January 2009, will be released as a movie in 2012.
With 22 books and another anticipated in November 2009, 10 movies and another anticipated in 2012, John Grisham has been one of the most creative and famous writers in current times. You can now download the any of the films that you missed and watch right from your computer or Television set.
